Michael A. Bryson (born 1945) is chief financial officer and director of Finance and Corporate Strategy for Mellon Financial Corporation and chief financial officer and executive vice president of Mellon Bank, N.A. He is a member of Mellon's Operating Committee, the Corporation's most senior management body, which sets corporate strategies and policies and oversees day-to-day operations.
As Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Bryson is responsible for management accounting, financial accounting, financial reporting and internal controls, tax, financial operations, corporate treasury, investor relations and corporate sourcing. He also oversees Mellon's Corporate Strategy and Development Department. He chairs Mellon's Market Risk and Benefits Investment Committees and is a member of its Senior Risk Management and Corporate Benefits Committees and the board of Mellon Ventures.
Mr. Bryson joined Mellon in 1974 in the former National Banking department. He has previously held a variety of positions in Corporate Banking, Capital Markets, Corporate Finance, Institutional Banking and Strategic Planning. He assumed responsibility for the Finance Department in 1998 as Executive Vice President Finance and Treasurer and became Chief Financial Officer in December 2001.
Mr. Bryson married Kathryn Freese in 1977 and has four children. Their current home is in Sewickley, Pennsylvania within the borough of Edgeworth. All of their children attended the prestigious Sewickley Academy.
