Future Planet Capital is an investment firm based in London, the United Kingdom. The firm invests in companies from global research centres and was ranked in the top 31 early stage venture capital firms in London by SeedLegals.
Established in 2017 by Douglas Hansen-Luke, the company manages approximately $400 million worth of assets. The company raised money through sovereign wealth funds, corporates and pension funds to invest in businesses focused on climate, health, education, sustainable growth and security organisations. In 2021, the company acquired Midven which managed the UK Innovation Science Seed Fund (UKI2S).
Future Planet capital invest through a variety of sub funds and vehicles. It has invested in multiple organisations including, Vaccitech, 23andMe and Tokamak Energy. Two organisations have achieved unicorn status, including 23andMe and Guideline. Further notable board members include Paul Abberley, David Norwood, Robin Chase, Sugata Mitra and Lord Wei.
The Wei Forward report
In 2022, the company commissioned Lord Wei of Shoreditch to launch The Wei Forward report. The report focuses on impact investment.
