Frederick Crossley Colquhoun

Frederick Crossley Colquhoun (1867-1893) was a Corporal in the service of the British South African Company and a member of the Shangani Patrol. Colquhoun was killed in action during the First Matabele War on 4 December 1893 and is commemorated on the Shangani Patrol Memorial, Matopo Hills, Rhodesia.
Colquhoun was born in Edinburgh on 25 September 1867 and educated at Bedford Modern School. He emigrated to South Africa in 1887 where he was chosen by Cecil Rhodes to join his Pioneer Column that was to march into, and occupy, Mashonaland, Rhodesia.<ref>"Shangani Patrol" by H.
