Francis Tapon is a hiker who has written one book, Hike Your Own Hike. Background Tapon was born in San Francisco to a mother from Chile and father from France. Hiking In 2006, he backpacked the Pacific Crest Trail. In 2007, he walked from Mexico to Canada and back to Mexico along the Continental Divide Trail. This seven-month journey spanned nearly 6,000 miles. In 2008, Francis was nominated as one of the seven finalists to the California Outdoors Hall of Fame. Books He is the author of Hike Your Own Hike: 7 Life Lessons from Backpacking Across America. He is donating half of his book royalty to the Triple Crown of thru-hiking—Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Continental Divide Trail.
