Foundation for Reflection Woods

The Foundation For Reflection Woods is a public foundation (NGO) established in 2001 in Germany by Michael Mence. It is the vehicle for a strategic cultural concept to initiate, disseminate and translate the Reflection Wood Philosophy throughout the world. This philosophy, developed between 1997 and 1999, is the holistic cultural response to globalization, the devastation of ecological systems as well as the destruction of evolved cultures and social structures. It consists of eight eco-cultural messages and twelve humanitarian values, which with regard to content are assigned to holistic nature ethics and humanitarian ethics in the field of applied ethics. Together, the eco-cultural guidelines and humanitarian values comprise an eco-cultural codex as a frame of reference for the ethos of the society necessary for survival.

The Foundation For Reflection Woods has two strategic goals:

• To initiate, establish and strengthen the Reflection Wood Philosophy in societies world-wide - as a clearly defined spectrum of eight eco-cultural messages and twelve humanitarian values

• To link together individuals and initiatives who endorse this philosophy -
throughout the world and across generations

In 2007 the Foundation For Reflection Woods introduced a petition to the Lower House of the German Parliament and submitted a proposal to the UNO in order to embed this new eco-cultural strategy in the German Constitution and in constitutions throughout the world.
