EA SPORTS - FIFA Ultimate Team
FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) is the most popular game mode included with EA's Football game FIFA. (FIFA 15 or FIFA Soccer 15 is the latest game released by EA Sports). FIFA Ultimate Team started on FIFA 10 and has grown massively, attracting many football fans across the world. The FIFA franchise is released annually by Electronic Arts under the EA Sports label, with FUT also recognised as property of EA (Sports). FIFA 14 Ultimate Team has also been used in YouTube videos and some of the players who have uploaded the content have had their videos go viral.
Starting Ultimate Team
The aim of Ultimate Team is to create a fantasy squad containing the players of your own dream team. The highest rated player, with exception of special cards, is Lionel Messi. Leonel Messi has the stats: 92 pace, 96 dribbling, 89 shooting, 84 passing, 69 heading and 44 defending.
In game virtual currency, also known as FIFA coins, is earned from trading, playing matches and opening packs. First of all, once the player starts up FUT for the first time, they are instructed to select a cover star. Once the user has done this, the gamer is told to make amendments to the TEMPORARY team and then finalising the squad. The player will then be taken into a starter match, which is offline and against the CPU, to get a feel of the features within the game mode. After the player has completed the starter match, a reward will be given (usually 500 coins and a Reward Pack).
Player Rankings
Almost all players from around the world are accessible; you can either collect them through packs or bid/buy them off others in the transfer market using FIFA coins. Each player has at least 1 rank; they are listed below.
Standard players range from Bronze, Silver or Gold rankings. However, there is also Bronze Rare, Silver Rare and Gold Rare cards, which are higher rated and harder to find. The best Gold Rare card so far in FIFA 14 is Lionel Messi (stats already stated above), rated 94.
Inform (Team Of The Week or TOTW) cards are distributed every week and consists of the best players that week, each with a higher rating then the original and are worth a lot more coins. They come in Bronze, Silver and Gold, and a player is able to have more than 1, with different stats. The best Inform distributed so far in FIFA 14 is Second Inform Lionel Messi, rated 96. These cards are recognizable by their Black and Bronze/Silver/Gold colours.
Team Of The Season (TOTS) cards started being distributed in April 2014 and consist of the best players of the Seasons that were going on around the world. These cards are some of the most wanted in the game. The best TOTS distributed so far in FIFA 14 is TOTS Lionel Messi and TOTS Cristiano Ronaldo, both rated 97. These cards are recognizable by their Blue and Bronze/Silver/Gold colors.
Team Of The Year (TOTY) cards are by far the best cards in the game, and feature the best players from 2014. The best TOTY distributed so
far in FIFA 14 is TOTY Lionel Messi and TOTY Cristiano Ronaldo, both rated 98. These cards are recognizable by their pure Blue colors.
Man Of The Match (MOTM) cards are, like Informs, upgraded default cards, and are distributed when the player is the Man Of The Match of an important real life match. The best MOTM distributed so far in FIFA 14 is MOTM Cristiano Ronaldo, rated 95. These cards are recognizable by their pure orange colors.
International Man Of The Match (iMOTM, TOTT or WCMOTM) cards were distributed throughout the World Cup 2014, and feature the MOTM of every match in the World Cup. These go up to as high as TOTY cards. The best iMOTM distributed was iMOTM Lionel Messi, rated 98. These cards are recognizable by their Dark Green colors.
Legend cards are cards of renowned retired footballers when they were at their best form. These cards are incredibly rare and are much sought after. There are less Legend cards then there is iMOTM cards, and they sell for an insane amount of coins. The best Legend so far is Pelé, rated 95 and currently is the rarest player to ever exist in FUT. These cards are recognizable by their distinct Cream colors. The estimated price for Pelé is around 15 million coins, compared to a mere 2.35 million coins for a regular Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cyan cards are cards given from EA to a professional footballer who has the game for himself and wants one of himself. These cards are always 95 rated, and have incredible stats. The chances of getting your hands on one is smaller than you getting your hands on Pelé. These cards are recognizable by their Cyan colors.
Blue/Red cards are distributed by EA for miscellaneous reasons. However, in FIFA 14, only one has been released, which is Miroslav Klose, for breaking a world record. It has a rating of 90 and incredible stats. This card is recognizable by its Blue and Red colors.
In FUT 14, a new dimension of tactic is introduced by allowing gamers to use 'Chemistry Styles', which redistributes a card's ratings according to the chemistry of that card.
