Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass

The Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is an "Artist Signature" electric bass guitar, made since 1998 by Fender for the Rush bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee. This "signature" model is a recreation of Lee's 1972 model Fender Jazz Bass that he bought for $200 in a pawn shop in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1977. Along with his Rickenbacker 4001 bass, it has been one of his most used instruments throughout his career. It has a solid alder 1972 Jazz Bass body, black or sunburst finish, Geddy Lee signature High Mass bridge (as of 2015), 3-ply white/black/white pickguard (black/white/black when sunburst) and a thin 1-piece C-shape maple neck with maple fingerboard featuring 20 medium-jumbo frets, black neck binding and block-shaped position markers. Other features include vintage-style tuners, chrome-plated hardware and a pair of American Vintage Jazz Bass pickups controlled by two separate volumes and a master tone.
Custom Shop Limited Geddy Lee 1972 Jazz Bass
In 2013 the Fender Custom Shop released a copy of Lee's road-worn 1972 Jazz Bass. Features include an alder body finished in nitrocellulose lacquer and a custom C-shaped maple neck with 20 medium jumbo frets, 9.5" radius, white neck binding and white shell block inlays. Other features include three large black bakelite knobs, BadAss II bridge, two Custom '75 Jazz Bass hand-wound single-coil pickups with custom wiring, 3-ply white pearloid pickguard, vintage-style locking tuners and Dunlop straplock buttons.
USA Geddy Lee Jazz Bass
In 2015 Fender introduced a US-made Geddy Lee signature Jazz Bass combining the features and specifications of three of Lee's favorite Jazz basses, including his black '72 Jazz Bass that is the basis for his original signature model. The maple neck is slightly thicker and the inlays are white, rather than black. Other features include two pickups voiced like those on his 1972 original, and a Geddy Lee signature high-mass bridge. Fender released a limited-edition run of 100 pieces accompanied with a hand-signed photo of Lee himelf, featuring a crimson red transparent finish over a flamed maple top. Other features include a black shell pearloid pickguard and a 20-fret maple neck with black binding and black block inlays.
