Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts

The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts, or FUMMWA, brings together those involved in creating, supporting and implementing worship in local congregations of the United Methodist Church, including musicians, clergy, dancers, artists and lay ministers. FUMMWA is based in Nashville, Tennessee. History and Organization The Fellowship was originally intended to support musicians. Its mission expanded to the service and support of all individuals, from both United Methodist's and other denominations, involved in all aspects of worship at the United Methodist Church. The Fellowship, affiliated with the United Methodist General Board of Discipleship, has as its mission the creation and support of: * Worship Arts that lead to spirituality and faith formation * Relationships that lead to hospitality, fellowship and nurture Structure The Fellowship is led by a National Council, including the following officers: * President: represents FUMMWA to The United Methodist Church, and presides at all meetings of The Fellowship and national council; * President-Elect: presides in the absence of the President and monitors committees and awards; * Immediate Past President: serves as the chair of the Nominating Committee and as chair and convener of Past Presidents Council; * Recording Secretary: keeps minutes of all council and board meetings and manages correspondence to the Council; * At-Large Member Other representatives include the Chapter Coordinating Committee Chair, Events Committee Chair, Membership Committee Chair, Multicultural Committee Chair, Music Areas Coordinator, Worship Areas Coordinator, Arts Areas Coordinator and Financial Advisory Committee Chair. Activities The Fellowship sponsors a biennial National Convocation for members. This conference includes group lectures, concerts, worship services and classes to support attendees in arts ministries. FUMMWA has chapter organizations around the country. A bi-monthly journal Worship Arts, is published by FUMMWA for its members. FUMMWA also provides planning help and guides via its website or email subscriptions.
