Asite Ltd is a British company providing web-based electronic project management, project extranet, or construction collaboration technologies. It operates the original E-procurement platform for businesses in the construction industry and was a pioneer of web-based model-server technology for Building Information Modeling technology via their Collaborative BIM (cBIM) technology. Asite also co-founded the Build London Live collaborative building information modelling events. History The company is based in London, England and was founded in 2001 during a surge of interest in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) in the UK construction and property markets. Initially, it was established as the Commerce One e-Procurement hub for the UK construction industry as well as a value-added reseller of collaborative project management software systems provided by Bidcom and BIW Technologies, but it subsequently developed its own applications (it has a software development centre, Asite Solutions Pvt Ltd, in Ahmedabad, India). In 2003 Asite was a founder member of the Network of Construction Collaboration Technology Providers (NCCTP), today part of Constructing Excellence. In 2005 Asite was a co-founder of the Hub Alliance, a group of e-procurement vendors seeking to expand the use of electronic trading. By April 2010, the Asite trading platform, Asite Exchange, had managed over one billion e-procurement transactions. Until 28 April 2009, Asite was a publicly listed company, Asite plc, listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) on the London Stock Exchange. The company's primary source of funding throughout was its major shareholder Robert Tchenguiz. According to its latest Companies House filing, it achieved revenues of £2.9m in the 18 months to 30 June 2009; it reported its first profit in a trading statement regarding the year ending 31 December 2009.
