FarPoint Media Network is a podcast production and advertising network based at the Draco Vista Studios in Phoenix, Arizona Founded by Michael R. Mennenga in early 2006, it is currently managed by CEO Mennenga, Summer Brooks, Jeffrey Willerth and Samuel K. Sloan (now retired). Most of the podcasts put out have some form of grounding in science fiction. One of the FarPoint Media shows (Slice of SciFi) is broadcast on Sirius/XM Radio. Additionally, FarPoint Media shows have been broadcast on terrestrial radio, such as KVON-FM in the Napa Valley, California, as well as several cell phone networks in the U.S. and across the globe. The Slice of SciFi show was recognized by the makers of Snakes on a Plane for helping promote the movie and were on a panel for that movie at ComicCon in 2006 with Samuel L Jackson. Currently 73 podcasts and 1 vidcast are produced within the Farpoint Media family, some are listed below. These podcasts come from a wide variety of styles, formats, and genres ranging from advice for 'wannabe authors', to discussions of 'geekdom' to literature and entertainment within the Speculative Fiction Genre, to unscripted, off the cuff programming. As this is also an advertising network, podcasts under the FarPoint Media banner are interconnected with one another, often each podcast will share promotional clips for fellow podcasts, in the same spirit of other podcasting networks. Additionally, Founder, and Sound Engineer Michael R. Mennenga provides recording and/or post production services as needed for the podcasts. Parsec Awards Dragoncon and FarPoint Media founded the Parsec Awards along with fellow authors and podcasters Mur Lafferty and Tracy Hickman under the FarPoint Media Flag. "Dedicated to rewarding excellence in various aspects of Speculative Fiction Podcasting the Parsec Award is available for both Sci-fi & Fantasy Original Content, podiobooks and a variety of other categories dealing with the new frontiers of Portable Media."
