Fag Army

The Fag Army is a left-wing queer anarchist and LGBTQ rights organization founded in Sweden in 2014. The group uses the tactic of direct action.
On August 18, 2014 Göran Hägglund, Minister for Health and Social Affairs and leader of the Christian Democrats, was pied in Gothenburg at Kungsportsplatsen by a member of the Fag Army during a speech at a party rally. The attacker, who had infiltrated the Christian Democrats three weeks prior to the event, participating in the party's campaign for the September general elections, was apprehended by the police, and later released.
A press release was later made by the Fag Army, in which the event was dubbed "Aktion Kommando Bakelsebögen", similar to the style of the Red Army Faction (which used the name "Kommando Holger Meins" during the West German Embassy siege in Stockholm, 1975). In an interview, the anonymous pie-thrower named a number of reasons behind the Christian Democrats being targeted, including the party's resistance to abolishing compulsory sterilisation, that it opposed the partnership law and the law on LGBTQ adoption, as well as that it allowed homophobes in the party. Continued actions by the Fag Army during the coming election campaign were promised.
