External Cortex refers to a peer-reviewed undergraduate research journal. The goal of the journal is to provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to (a) publish their research projects conducted in their undergraduate programs, and (b) enlighten reviewing undergraduate students about the publication process by participating as one of the reviewers. Further, graduate students serve as senior reviewers to ensure that all manuscripts meet minimum requirements for methodological rigour and concise and clear writing style. While the journal has not produced its first issue, the academic community's reaction has been positive. Many Canadian universities agreed to support the journal's activity by including it in their Open Access Journal databases, and reimbursing undergraduate students the publication fee, as they do for professors. Who can contribute? Undergraduate and graduate students from any university can serve in one of the following roles: * Undergraduate students: authors and peer reviewers * Graduate students: Senior reviewers
