This article is a list of Ethnic Groups in Cape Verde people: Italian Cape Verdeans & Italians in Cape Verde Italians have had a long history with Cape Verde. One of the first Italians was António Noli, who is partially credited with discovering some of the islands of Cape Verde in the 1460s, while sailing under the Portuguese flag. Five centuries later Italians were still present in Cape Verde. Sergio Frusoni, the son of Italian immigrants, who was born on the islands and promoted the language. Adelina Domingues, one of the oldest people in the United States, was the daughter of an Italian sea captain and a Cape Verdean woman.
