EraNetik

Kennedy Calvin Phounsiri (born July 26, 1992), better known as EraNetik, is an American dancer, rapper, singer, and songwriter, born and raised in San Diego, California.
Personal life
EraNetik was born on July 26, 1992 in San Diego, California. His family immigrated to the United States from Laos in 1989, in search of freedom and a new life. He is the first and only born American in his family. EraNetik grew up in Southeast San Diego, with both his parents, sister, and brother, in the Chollas View neighborhood until middle school, then lived in Lincoln Park throughout high school, before moving to Las Vegas shortly after. Being a Laotian-American from Southeast San Diego was common to be, but difficult to ignore the street and gang activity he was surrounded by. Though he never joined a gang, EraNetik had family members and close friends who did; but having his older brother there to inspire him, he was able to find different outlets to focus his life upon like dancing and music.
Bboy career
EraNetik found dance at the age of 10, which he and a few friends decided to do during the summer break of 2002. His brother Krysada Binly Phounsiri, better known as Bboy Lancer, started learning a few months prior and first taught them the little that he knew. The first style of dance he learned was Breakin' or B-Boying (commercially known as "breakdancing"). It became an instant passion for EraNetik. The level of difficulty, motivated him to improve day after day. In the spring of 2003, he joined his brother's crew The Calamities, which he is now the second-in-command for after his brother. EraNetik and his crew started to battle other crews in San Diego at local competitions to build their "rep" and expertise. Entering competitions at such a young age and possibly being the youngest out there, a lot considered EraNetik the Kid Prodigy of San Diego. Though winning was not ordinary for him and his crew, after years of fighting and dedication, he has won numerous competitions as a solo and team competitor. Aside from being victorious at local San Diego events, he surprisingly started to win out of the city, state, country, then overseas. EraNetik was blessed to win his first three international competitions. His first international battle was in 2011 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico where he and his brother battled some of the top bboys from Mexico and won. This event led them to another victory in Guanajuato, Mexico shortly after. In 2013, EraNetik traveled to Japan to compete at his first overseas competition and won the solo battles in Tokyo. This same year, a legendary bboy crew by the name of Killafornia, reached out to EraNetik and his brother to join them, which they are now key members for today. EraNetik continued the momentum and was selected as a top Westcoast bboy two years in a row (2013 & 2014) for RedBull's prestigious event BC One and also won three Pro Breaking Tour events in 2014. In October 2014, EraNetik suffered a major injury during a performance at an event in Hollywood. He underwent surgery in his right arm for Elbow UCL Reconstruction (Tommy John Surgery) and Tricep Tendon Repair, which put him out for the entire 2015 year. Now in 2016, EraNetik is slowly building back his abilities to perform and hopes to compete at a high-level once again soon.
Professional Dance career
Fresh out of high school, EraNetik had the opportunity to appear on , which was televised in 2011. Soon after, he received a call from the Jabbawockeez to join them in their "MÜS.I.C." theatre show at the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. He took the opportunity and moved out to Las Vegas in June 2011. In 2012, the Jabbawockeez received a contract to perform in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia at the Jupiters Hotel & Casino, which EraNetik was selected to go. At the end of the run, he decided to hang up the mask and seek new opportunities. EraNetik made an appearance in the first season of RedBull's Break'n Reality TV Series (2012) and also starred in the RedBull commercial "Inside a Bboy's Head" (2014). In 2013, he became an artistic director for Break Shop, a professional dance company that performs at various fairs and festivals across the US, which he still works for currently. EraNetik then decided to take his dancing into a different platform and signed to the Los Angeles based agency Go 2 Talent in 2014.
Music career
EraNetik grew up around music his entire life. Despite him starting out as a dancer at the age of 10, his father was a Lao musician, so the artistry became natural for him. He started doing rap freestyles when he was in the 6th grade with his friends around the neighborhood. In middle school, he started writing and recording random songs with a PC microphone for fun. It wasn't until his freshman year of high school, when he decided to record music seriously with professional equipment. The rest was history. He originally built a following within the young Asian community through sites like Myspace, Youtube, & Tumblr, by uploading "love rap" songs, that earned him thousands of fans and over a million views online. EraNetik released his first independent album "Masterpiece" in 2012, which he recorded himself. The following year in 2013, he wanted to make his career more professional and started Finest City Music Group, which represented various local artists. That same year, he released a 6-track EP titled "Surge" with fellow Finest City MG artist Benny Bun, which was sold on online music stores like Itunes, Google Play, Spotify, and Amazon. After a two year hiatus from album projects, he decided to record a new album in 2015. The title he chose for the album was “Second Wind”, because he caught his second wind for making music once again. This was the first project where he hired a professional to record the songs for him, which led him to join their creative team Collective Society. "Second Wind" was released in January 2016 and you can find it on online music stores.
