English Radical Alliance

The English Radical Alliance (ERA) is a political party based in England and founded on 25th July 2009 by David Owens, Rick Heyse, Les Taylor and Dave Brennan. It was officially registered with the Electoral Commission on the 1st October 2009. The party opposes capitalism, socialism and membership of the European Union and supports a referendum on English independence. ERA claims its political position is neither left wing, right wing or centrist, as the party draws its policies from across the political spectrum and its inspiration from of the past such as Wat Tyler, the Levellers and the Tolpuddle Martyrs.
Political philosophy
ERA states it is unlike other English nationalist parties, and claims to promote a brand of Radicalism and Distributism as an alternative based on decentralisation,, economic protectionism and cultural nationalism..

; English independence
The English Radical Alliance campaigns for English independence, and believes this is the only way in which fairness and equality can be transferred to all the nations of the UK. It aims to achieve independence via a referendum in all four home nations of the United Kingdom. ERA proposes that if the UK is disolved mutual ties, trade and co-operation with the other home nations, the Isle of Mann, the Bailiwicks of Guernsey and Jersey and the Republic of Ireland would still exist by creating a Council of the Isles.
;Ten Aims
ERA has ten core values known as "The Ten Aims". From these aims, the party claims all of its policies are developed.
Party organization
Leadership
ERA does not have a party leader or believe in the iconic leader status some political party leaders crave. Instead, ERA is managed by a democratically elected Central Executive Committee (CEC). At the party's First Annual Conference in 2010 all four founder members (David Owens, Rick Heyse, Les Taylor and Dave Brennan) were re-elected to the CEC.

Publications
ERA produces a periodic magazine entitled English Radical which is available to members and non-members. It also produces a members publication on a bi-monthly basis entitled ERA Bulletin.
Elections
The English Radical Alliance has not contested any elections since being formed in July 2009.
