Emil Luxemburg is an American conductor, violinist, violist, and music educator. Education Emil Luxemburg is a graduate of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (M.M. in Orchestral conducting) and of the Academy of Music, Theatre, and Fine Arts in Moldova, in the former USSR, with a double major in orchestral conducting and music pedagogy. Emil is the son of famous composer Arkady Luxemburg. He was born in Chisinau, Moldova, where he began to play violin when he was six years old. He attended a special school for music where he studied violin as his primary instrument and piano as his secondary instrument as well as music theory and music history. He continued his musical studies at the Music College, where he studied violin with Victoria Neaga, viola with F. Balan, and chamber music with O. Shraiberman. Upon receiving his BA in Violin and Viola performance, he emigrated to West where he continued his career as a musician and music educator. He worked at the Tikvateinu Orchestra, Lambs Players Theatre. He toured with Lux Ensemble music group in the Middle East, Romania, Israel, and the US. Luxemburg has conducted the Rachmaninov Lyceum orchestra as well as the Greenbaum Orchestra, additionally appearing in several solo and chamber music recitals in the United States and Europe.
