The Embassy of India in Sofia is a diplomatic mission of the Republic of India to Bulgaria. Leadership Ambassador is in charge of the embassy. Sanjay Rana is the current Ambassador of India to Bulgaria. History India's diplomatic representatives to Bulgaria resided in Belgrade and Bucharest from July 1955 until April 1970. India opened its embassy in Sofia in May 1970. A statue of Mahatma Gandhi was unveiled by the Embassy of India in Sofia, in October 2020. Jurisdiction Embassy serves Bulgaria and North Macedonia region. Notable events Indian mission hosts periodic events to promote Indian culture in Bulgaria region. The embassy hosted the International Literary Seminar in 2020. Yoga Day Yoga Day is hosted by the embassy in multiple locations across Bulgaria.
