Atmosphere and Culture

Not recommended for international students, largely due to the fact the student centre, with the bar and shop closes at the weekend. Friday afternoons see a mass exodus from the camp, with students going back home for the weekends in surrounding counties such as Armagh, Tyrone and Fermanagh. This contributes to a ghost-like feel to the place on weekends.

However, that in mind, it is a very good location to stay at for first years. Offering the perfect balance between socialising with flatmates and making new friends, whilst still providing enough space for time on your own, it is well worth considering, if a little overpriced in recent years.

Problems arose in 2005/06 with anti-social behaviour issues on campus and the surrounding streets.

Student Centre

Student life is very much centred around the Scholars bar, where weekly quizes and the occasional karaoke night create a very good environment to relax and socialise. The Mace shop also is very handy, with not only groceries and magazines, but also rentable dvds on offer.
