Ellen Doughty-Hume

Ellen Doughty-Hume (born December 10, 1984) is an up and coming American Equestrian from Farmington Hills, Michigan. Doughty-Hume completed the Rolex Kentucky Three Day event in 2015, with her Holsteiner/Thoroughbred Gelding, Sir Oberon ("Obie"). The pair finished their first CCI**** in 39th place out of a total of 89 entries. Doughty-Hume first qualified for Rolex in 2014, but unfortunately a heel grab that occurred earlier in the season prevented her and Obie from passing the first health inspection.
Life
The daughter of Phil and Connie Doughty, Doughty-Hume began riding at 8 years old and started Three Day Eventing when she was 16. Doughty-Hume is an alumna of The United States Pony Club rising to an "A rating" which helped her gain experience to become a well rounded equestrian. Doughty-Hume has not taken the traditional route of the Advanced event rider, and is basically self taught; attending clinics and watching videos on the internet Doughty-Hume also studied Animal Science at Michigan State University.
Doughty married Alistair Hume at Kentucky Horse Park, on the Cross Country course in 2014. The wedding was officiated by US National Team chef d’équipe, . Ellen and Alistair Doughty-Hume reside in Forney, TX
Doughty-Hume owns and runs her own business, Pegasus Eventing, based out of Rockwall Hills Equestrian Center.
