Ella’s Fine Food and Drink

Ella’s Fine Food and Drink is a French-Asian-inspired casual fine dining establishment founded in 2012. It is a 200-seat restaurant with private dining and an outdoor terrace in Westerly, Rhode Island. Jeanie Roland, and her husband, James Roland, owned and managed the restaurant.
In 2014, Chef Jeanie Roland’s fame grew significantly when friends Taylor Swift and Lorde came in for dinner at Ella’s Fine Food and Drink and later inquired if she would be prepared to host them for a private cooking class. They were soon in Roland's kitchen, learning how to create tuna tartare tacos wrapped in a "won-taco" with sesame oil and fresh ginger (wonton taco).
Roland attributes invitation to compete on his Food Network show, Beat Bobby Flay, to the Instagram photographs she uploaded during this session. She accepted the challenge and completed her Thai curry mussels with duck fat frites and three handmade dipping sauces in 45 minutes, much to the delight of two of the three blinded judges, beating out the world-famous Flay.
Restaurant’s name
The restaurant’s name, Ella’s Fine Food and Drink, has been on Roland’s mind for about two years before actually selecting the restaurant’s current location. Chef Jeanie was inspired by an iconic restaurant called Cappizano, an Italian favorite for 50 years. Chef Jeanie called the restaurant "Ella" after learning that the mother of the Cappizano brothers (Dave and Frank) was named "Eleanor."
