Elisabeth Hughes was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at the age of 29. A lack of information about services for autistic adults made her publish a book about Asperger Syndrome. She wrote, produced and translated a book about her experience living with Asperger Syndrome. Elisabeth Hughes is bilingual. She corresponds in German and in English fluently. With her books and her international speeches she increased general awareness of the condition. Her special concern is receiving awareness for adults on the autsistic spectrum around the world. She is a "translator" for neurotypical and autistic people.
