Eleanor Thatcher

Eleanor Thatcher (February 21, 1910 - March 13, 1987) was an American film actress who had a short film career in Hollywood during the 1930s.
Life and Career
Born and raised in Binghamton, New York she came to Hollywood in the early 1930s as a hopeful starlet. She got work at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as a dress extra and when the studio found out how much she liked to dance and sing they cast her in a few musical shorts. Her first came in 1932's Wild People followed by Over the Counter, an extremley risque musical number of its time. She appeared in the film The Sign of the Cross (1932) as a persecuted Christian. Her role was uncredited. She found herself getting work in musical shorts and in 1934 she made her last in The Road to Ruin. After her work and contract was reviewed Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer decided not to renew her contract feeling that the public lacked interest in her and she was discharged. Following this she returned to Binghamton and continued living there for the remainder of her life. In 1935 she married a department store worker named Daniel Lesle and was a happily married woman until her death. She had two children. After Hollywood was over she spent the rest of her life as a secretary in the managements office of the department store where her husband worked and when she wasn't working she was just a mild mannered housewife. On March 13, 1987 she died at Lourdes Hospital due to an intestinal ailment one month after her 77th birthday.
