The Greeks and the Yugoslavs are trying to shut down everything that has to do with history of Balkans especially with the Albanian history, because these countries have unjustly claimed as theirs many territories where ethnic Albanians have lived at. Albanians are the oldest people in Balkans and in Europe as well. The very fact that the Etruscan writings are being deciphered through the help of Albanian language speaks of how old Albanian language and people are. Albanians are the offsprings of ancient Pelasgians. Pelasgians are the fathers of what is nowadays called the "Greek Mythology". Just read the many encyclopedieas about in regard to Pelasgian name and origin to verify this. Also read the "Eneid" from Virgil to see who the true Trojans are. Both Greeks and Yugoslavs are doing the most to keep the truth about the Albanians from being told to the world. They are basically distorting the history of Balkans.

Enver Hoxha said "Balkan is like a powder barrel threatening to explode any time." And it is more so today when some sense is being turned back to old Europe. Vast areas stretching from Kashmir, Nepal, Pakistan, Kazakhistan, Azerbaijan, Caucas, Ukraine, Balkan, Italy, Aegean islands, North Africa, Middle East hide under the dust of history and efforts of Slavs and Greeks the correlation of the truth in the roots of this ancient population with such a surviving spirit called Albanians (Shqiptare from Eagle the word stands for).
For the real historian, archaeologist, people who love the truth and the right of nations, this book is as welcoming as any other book which throws light on obscurantism. If Greeks and Slavs find a similarity of a letter they bring it to the universal significance and Europe hails it. If a stone engraved with estruscian words is found in a city of Albania and is understood only by Albanian language, this is just a misinterpretation.
A brilliant book.

I've read this book often. It's phenomenal book. But, some greek circles want to degrade the personality of Edwin Jacques as 'pro Albanian'. But, they did not brought any proof to oppose the thesis of Edwin. Hovewer, Edwin Jacques is a good researcher of Albanian History.

Comments on Edwin Jacques’s book: “The Albanians”

The book of E. Jacques “The Albanians” represents a modern history about the Albanian people. It is based on many historical documents and facts and widely bibliographical data and that is the reason that I consider them as more completely on history of Albanian today.
Many years I occupied myself with the prehistory of the south Europe. Archaeological facts bring up to us very clear who are the peoples that built up the Trojan, Mycenaean, Minoan, Etruscan civilisations. They are the Pelasgians only. The Pelasgians built up the first Neolithic villages in Thessaly (Sesklo, Dhemini, and Iolko), Maliq, Buthrot, Thrake etc. The beginning of the first farms and agriculture belong to the Pelasgians as we as the fist cities, pottery, gold and silver goods and wine are produced by them. Who want to know the truth must very carefully read the ancients authors and Schliemann’s and Evans books on the archaeological excavations on Troy, Crete, and Mycenae. Both of them recognised the eldest pre-Hellenic civilisation of Bronze Age and Hellenic one during Iron Age.
Troy is classical side for the prehistory of the Aegean region. Archaeologists have identified nine cities built up on each other during the Bronze and Iron Ages. Troy I-Troy VII = 3000 BC-700 BC are unearthed a few of pottery, bronze, gold and silver objects and arms, but no one have been the Hellenic origin. Troy VIII-700 BC-85 BC is named the Hellenic city, because in this (layer) are find for the first time the Hellenic objects together with Pelasgian ones. By Schliemann was marking down that the first Hellenic objects in Troy are dated 5 century BC. Troy IX is the city during the Roman Empire and begins on 85 BC.
This is very clear that Aegean Bronze civilisation is pre-Hellenic and belongs to the Pelasgians, whose are ancestries of the Albanians.

This is a phenominal book with tons of evidence and conclusions in regards to the history of the Albanian people and the Balkans. The book gives strategic clues backed with articles of referance and facts with each point. When discovering that it was written from a non-Balkan native, I decided to read the book in an unbiased fashion. I have learned so much in regards to the mysteries of Albanian traditions and the hidden roots of Greek and Slavic propaganda. Great book and excellent insight.

This book is based on facts and the only ones that i heard it disputing the truth in this book are GREEKS and SLAVS. I am from germany and i really liked this book. All you people have to know that when greeks came-migrated here they found albanians-illyrians there.

Dr. Edwin Jacques is author of the best book on history of Albanians and I recommand this to anyone. I was blessed and glad to read from him and to see that he hade resourses more than any other author about antient and modern Albanian history, and exlusivly he knew a lot about Protestant Church among Albanians. We need to remind that he was pastor of Evangelical Church in Korce, Albania. But I am suprised why have not been include whole of his writting in his translated book in Albanian. We don't need to hide nothink, but to be transparent, to love the truth and to exept reality. Protestant Movement among Albanians started back in 1816, and Edwin Jacques has to tell as a lot from it.
