Edward R. Vick

Edward R. Vick (born in 1958 in Canada) was a marketing manager in the tourism and insurance sectors and was the founder of the Vick Foundation. He graduated with a degree in English Literature from Cambridge University. Vick was behind Bulgaria's biggest literary prize. Nowadays Vick is the CEO of international translation company EVS Translations.
Career
Vick was a marketing manager in the tourism and insurance sectors and worked for American Express. In 1991, Vick who speaks English, German, French and Italian languages founded translation company EVS Translations.
Vick Foundation
Vick established the Vick Foundation in 2004, which inaugurated the Bulgarian Novel of the Year prize. He was inspired by Booker prize winner Stanley Middleton who taught him at High Pavement Grammar School, Nottingham, UK.
The aim of the foundation was to promote Bulgarian literature by sponsoring an annual literary prize for a contemporary Bulgarian novel.
The purpose of the Vick Prize was to assist, develop and promote Bulgarian fiction inside and outside Bulgaria.

*American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union On May 26, 2015 at the American Corner, Sofia City Library Vick spoke on the translation market worldwide and in Bulgaria and presented his own collection of first editions of some of the first Bulgarian books translated into English.
