Edna Friedman

Edna Friedman (November 15, 1921 - June 20, 2006) was an American Subway Model in the 1940s. She was born Edna Kilimnik to Emalia (born 1897) and Isadore (born 1895?), two Romanian Jews who settled in the Bronx near New York City. In 1939, she became a model and soon took a picture with Mayor Fiorello La Guardia. She changed her name to "Edna Ford" to hide her Jewish background. After getting to know Dr. Marvin Friedman, a dentist, they were married in 1943. In 1944, they moved to Seattle and skiied down the mountains in the western United States. Daughter Leslie was born on December 10, 1947 and soon after, became a stay-home mom. She died in 2006 of pneumonia, which was a complication of pancreatic cancer.
