The Edinburgh University Politics Society is one of the largest and oldest student societies at the University of Edinburgh. On its website, the Society commits itself to "the firm belief that steady access to first hand political discourse is a beneficial resource to help inform our members’ studies, interests and voting preferences." The Politics Society hosts regular talks from a host of political and diplomatic speakers. Talks are generally held weekly. Past speakers Prominent speakers from the past few years have included several Ambassadors, as well as prominent cabinet members from the Scottish and UK governments. Trivia British Prime Minister Gordon Brown served as president of the Politics Society while an undergraduate at the University of Edinburgh.
