Oxford Atheist Society

The Oxford Atheist Society is a student society for members of the University of Oxford who describe themselves as atheists. The society aims to introduce and promote the idea of atheism in the university and elsewhere. It is a founding member of the National Federation of Atheist, Humanist and Secular Student Societies.
Oxford Atheist Society was founded in Trinity term of 2008. Dr Peter Kail, who lectures on Modern Philosophy in the university, was chosen to be the society's Senior Member. OAS hosts weekly events in various locations in constituent colleges of the university. Most of the events take form of lectures delivered by speakers who are experts on science, philosophy, theology and others. Former speakers include Julian Baggini and Peter Atkins.
