The Edinburgh Predators are an American football team that will play in the BUAFL Conference 1 (comprising teams from North East England and Scotland) from the 09/10 season. The Predators feature players from the University of Edinburgh. Previously, students of University of Edinburgh played for Napier University's Napier Mavericks. This was changed in the 2008/09 season, however, as the Predators were set up by President Sam Chivers and his committee in view of the BUAFL's decision to move to "single institution" rules. The second match saw the first rivalry game of the season as the Predators took on the Napier Mavericks. The game finished 20-8 to the Predators who, having scored their first touchdown of the season, promptly conceded their first points of the season to a pass interception run in for a touchdown. Despite being down 8-6, the Predators rallied and scored 2 further touchdowns, with one of the two point conversions being converted. The result of the game is currently pending. The fourth game of the season pitted the unbeaten Predators against the winless Stirling Clansmen. The game was won 12-0 by the Predators and featured a commanding performance by quarterback Ben Edelshain. Edelshain threw the first touchdown pass, which was taken by wide receiver Dan Cameron.
