Biography
Eden wrote while attaining her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She also wrote songs as bassist/vocalist in the band Enormous. Enormous was an alternative metal band formed in San Francisco by Eden, as well as drummer Joshua, and guitarist Nat Bowditch. The trio played all around the San Francisco area while also releasing several singles. However, the band was forced to move from San Francisco, CA to Baltimore, MD in order for Eden to study at graduate school. In the summer of 1995, Enormous supported successful rock bands Better than Ezra and Bush, as well as signing to A&M records. During that same year, the band recorded and released Greetings in Baltimore.
Eden has been a journalist, a welder, and an editor. She has written stories in many different forms including books, plays, poems and screenplays. Eden has written about her Baltimore home in the books, Growing Up in Baltimore, and Druid Hill Park: The Historic Heart of Baltimore. Eden also co-wrote The Daughter-in-Law’s Survival Guide: Everything You Need to Know About Relating to Your Mother-in-Law.
When Eden's son expressed disappointment in the impossibility of the magic found in young adult novels, Eden became driven to tell a story about the kind of magic that’s all around and the kind people can actually do. The result was, The Atomic Weight of Secrets or The Arrival of the Mysterious Men in Black, which is the beginning of her Young Inventors Guild trilogy, as well as her first young adult novel.
