Ed Wimp, born July 28, 1989, is an artist manager, tour manager, speaker, author, and business owner. Ed Wimp is the owner of entertainment management company, Wimp Entertainment. He currently lives in Orlando, Florida. A passion for music was sparked in Ed Wimp by his mother Greta Pope, an internationally acclaimed singer. From a young age, Ed would travel with her all over the world. As Ed got older, he began playing trumpet, guitar, bass, as well as singing. In 2012, Ed started his professional career in tour management when he began working with R&B group Earth Wind and Fire. During his tour management career, he has also worked with . Ed frequently speaks all over the country to students of all ages about the music industry. Ed is anticipating a July 2016 release of his new book "Building Fans, Fame, and Wealth: The 18 Revenue Streams of Music". Ed Wimp's grandmother is famed vocalist, Kay Davis, who was a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
Ed Wimp is the host of the new video series, "Music Industry Secrets with Ed Wimp". In this series, Ed gives advice to individuals aspiring to make a career in music. The first episode aired February 15, 2016.
Ed is an ambassador for Self Employment in the Arts, and has spoken for various colleges and organizations including: University of Tampa, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Chicago High School for the Arts, The Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, National Sports and Entertainment Law Society, Full Sail University, and many others.
In 2013, Ed Wimp recorded the single "Beautiful" and released the song to iTunes. The proceeds from the song went to support Music Is Unity. Music Is Unity is a foundation that was initiated to financially support agencies that provide programming to enhance the ability of foster youth to transition successfully into adulthood. Music Is Unity was founded by Earth Wind and Fire vocalist, Philip Bailey.
Ed Wimp attended high school at Morgan Park Academy in Chicago, Illinois. He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in political science from Monmouth College. He received a Masters of Business from Full Sail University, and he will obtain a Juris Doctor from Florida A&M College of Law in December 2017.
