Dushyant

Early life and education
Dushyant was born and brought up in Northern Rajasthan, around the river Ghaggar (Saraswati of Rigveda) and Gang canal, to Brij Lal (Father, Lecturer in Political Science) and Birma Devi (Mother, Homemaker). His paternal grand father who migrated to Rajasthan from Firozpur district of Punjab, was land revenue officer under Maharaja Ganga Singh of the princely state of Bikaner.
His home town is Sri Ganganagar, where he did schooling from DAV School after initial schooling in various Govt Schools of rural area. He moved to Jaipur for higher studies. He did from University Rajasthan College in History and studied Philosophy as well. He then did his Masters in Modern Indian history, followed by qualifying UGC-NET, . Which resulted into a Doctorate in History, supervised by Professor Pratibha Jain, Ex Head, Department of History, University of Rajasthan. His doctoral thesis was examined by Professor Emeritus Dilbagh Singh of Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. His area of specialization was Feminism/Gender Studies.
His doctoral dissertation (in History) was published in 2012 by Rajkamal Prakashan, Delhi as 'Striyan: Parde se Prajatantra tak'.
He spent a few days at Film and Television Institute of India , Pune to understand the medium of cinema.
Career
Dushyant started his career with teaching history in a post-graduate College, later, he taught Masters programme in Rajasthani Language, Literature and Culture at the Centre for Rajasthan Studies, University of Rajasthan but shifted to journalism very soon for the passion of writing. Working with TV and print journalist Alok Tomar made him confident enough to pursue his passion of writing as a career. He joined the newspaper "Daily News" of the Rajasthan Patrika Group in 2007 after joining and leaving many jobs and subsequently became the head of the Sunday magazine of the newspaper, that prolonged for almost a decade.
Dushyant was the founding editor of the literary magazine Shabdkram when he was a doctoral scholar in the university.
His first collection of short stories, July Ki Ek Raat, was published in June 2013 by Penguin India. It consists 15 short stories, most of them are of small towns and very few from rural India. Critics remarked that he is a storyteller who depicts the changing India after Globlization with minute details. This book received critical acclaim as well as ennormous love of readers.
His novel 'Via Gurgaon', was released by Juggernaut Books in December 2017. It is a love story set in Jatland of Northern India.
His latest book 'Raho Tum Nakshtra Ki Tarah' is a translation of Odia poems by Sahitya Akademi Award winner poetess Monalisa Jena, which is published by Rajkamal Prakashan, Delhi in Raza Pstakmala released in January, 2018 at Delhi World Book Fair.
Dushyant has been a regular invited speaker to many literature festivals like Youth Literary Festival of Sahitya Akademi (National Academy of Letters, India) the Jaipur Literature Festival, Kritya International Poetry Festival. and Bhubaneswar Poetry Festival
Film and entertainment industry
He is a full-time film professional based in Mumbai.

National Film Award winner film director Sriram Dalton has just finished the shoot of a full-length feature film (tentatively titled as 'Balema') scripted by Dushyant.
He has written many non-fiction scripts for prestigious production houses like Film Division of India.
As a lyricist, Dushyant debuted with fame music director Sneha Khanwalkar when he wrote a song for the second season of MTV India's show Sound Trippin.
His first Bollywood film as a lyricist is Laal Rang (2016) with French music director Mathias Duplessy directed by Syed Ahmad Afzal, starring Randeep Hooda, Meenakshi Dixit, Akshay Oberoi, Piaa Bajpai. Its Haryanvi romantic song 'Bawli Booch' became popular.
He has written lyrics for the Sudipto Sen directed and Subrat Dutta, Elena Kazan starrer Aasma; and Sudeep Ranjan Sarkar directed Paradiso which premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
Dushyant penned a song for the Anti-triple Talaq Campaign.
As a lyricist, Dushyant has been working with music directors like: Sneha Khanwalkar ( fame), Bapi-Tutul ( Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar fame), French Composer Mathias Duplessy, Ali-Ghani (Famous Composer of many leading Ghazal Singers), Rohit Sharma, Sandesh Shandilya, Kanish Sharma- Bishakhjyoti, National Award Winner Composer Anurag Saikia, Sanjib Sarkar, Megha Sriram Dalton etc. And Haryanawi rock star Vikas Kumar, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sadhna Sargam, Megha Sriram Dalton, Arijit Singh, Udit Narayan, Nooran Sisters, Jaspinder Narula, Shan, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Keka Ghoshal are few names who have given their voices to the lyrics of Dushyant.
He is the founding director and chief executive officer of International Film Festival Of Sriganganagar.
