Durabak

DURABAK-M26™ is a tough, non-slip, safety coating developed by COTEL-L Industries. DURABAK-M26™ utilizes single-pack polyurethane with self-contained recycled rubber granules for an attractive tough-textured finish. When exposed to atmospheric moisture, DURABAK-M26™ undergoes a chemical curing process which changes it from a liquid to a tough polyurethane membrane. It has excellent abrasion and chemical resistance as well as slip-resistant properties.
DURABAK-M26™ chemically bonds to most clean and dry surfaces including concrete, wood, fiberglass, metal, rubber and sound-painted materials. Certain metals and extremely porous surfaces may need to be primed before application of the product.
For best results the preferred application method is roller, brush or spray. Because of its durability DURABAK-M26™ is used heavily in heavy construction, transportation and DOD applications.
History
In response to request from the US Navy, COTE-L Industries (Woman-Owned Small Business) worked on improving its industrial-grade Durabak safety coating product and the result was a military grade high durability deck coating called Durabak-M26™ (www.durabakM26.com). It currently stands as the only one-part deck coating product that is approved for Type I and Type III, i.e., interior wetted areas (e.g., heads, showers, galleys) and exterior weather decks for US military and Homeland Security vessels. Under MIL-PRF-32171B and approved per Standard Item 009-32 and 009-26, this polyurethane is repairable-at-sea, nonskid, and yet gentle enough on bare feet.
This coating had been available in the commercial market for over 15 years and had performed admirably under heavy industrial use and adverse weather conditions. Now that the military variant is approved for use by the Navy, the Government is poised to capitalize on the labor-saving and weight-saving features of this remarkably durable coating product on berthing areas, galleys, passageways, ladders, habitability areas and outdoor weatherdecks.
Applications
DURABAK applications have been successful internationally in the construction industry, buildings and facilities, heavy equipment, fleet trucks, marine industry, concrete, bridge construction and maintenance, the transportation industry, home use applications, for do-it-yourselfers, and as a lead paint encapsulant.
