Camilia Shehata Zakher

Camilla (Kamilia) Shehata (born 1985) is an Egyptian school teacher and was the wife of Tadros Sammon Priest of Mawas church in Minya Governorate. Her disappearance was communicated by a report by Tadros alledging her abduction inciting hundreds of Christians to protest against the disappearance of Camilia.
Amid the protest a Minia representative of the People's Assembly, Eid Labib revealed that Kamilia had left willingly. After four days, the Egyptian security announced that they found Kamilia and "delivered" her to the Church which reported the disapperance was actually due to the family problems.
Immediately afterwards and on a satellite channel, the bishop of Mawas, Agapius reported that Kamilia Shehata was not returned to her family and taken to an unknown location by the Church where she is being "brainwashed" after her being brainwashed.
Intellectuals and activists called the Coptic Church around rumors that Kamilia has actually embraced Islam and become Musilm including Dr. Rafik Habib the christian writer convinced of the reversion to Islam story because of a similar well documented incident of another former Priest's wife of Abu Almtamer, Wafaa Constantine who is still detained in the Church after five years.
Another christian writer, Jamal Assad states there is a definte complicity of the State with the Church in the crisis of Kamilia as previous similar incidents and wondered why the State has delivered Kamilia to the Church both in trangression of the law and human rights.
A third christian writer Kamal has reported to the Attorney General to investigate the incidents of Wafaa Constantine the previous wife of the Abu Almtamer priest, and the new case of Kamilia Shehata, the previous wife of the Mowas priest.
Thereafter an interview appeared with Abu Yahya Moftah Mohammed Fadhel from Minya, whom Kamilia Shehata went to him for assistance in publicizing her reversion to Islam at Al Azhar the official institution for public certification of reversion to Islam, and showed a photograph in his possesion showing her in Islamic dress of "Niqab" reporting that Al Alzhar refused to complete the formalities and they were arrested by State security and Kamilia extradited to the church
A series of documents, identifications and personal papers and images, were displayed belonging to Kamilia who had left them with the family that hosted at her as she was preparing her public reversion application.
A group of Lawyers belonging to the "Association of lawyers Against Sectarianism" picking up the news protested in front of the Egyptian bar, demanding to know the of fate Kamilia Shehata and former case of Wafaa Constantine and others.
Thereafter the first massive rally against the christian Pope shenouda who ordered the detentions was held at Al-Nour Mosque in Abbasia next to his residence to know the whereabouts of Kamilia Shehata and the other reverts to Islam including Wafaa Constantine demanding their freedom.
Other demonstrations successively erupted in Cairo at Al Fath Mosque as well as Amr Mosque condemning the detention of reverted muslims within the monasteries and churches including led by the well documented cases of Kamilia Shehata, Wafaa Constantine and young Christine and Marian. The Association of Cairo University Youth confirmed that the Constitution and the law had ensured the citizenry's right to choose their own beliefs and called for the isolation of the pope who transgressed and ordered the detentions. student protesters to isolate him. In the same three days another larger demonstration erupted in the city of Alexandria, at AlQaed Ibrahim Mosque where thousands rallied after the taraaweeh prayers with the same demands
In an act reflecting the growing desperation surrounding the church's reaction to growing public awareness, a church associated newspaper reported "exclusive" release of what stated was pope shenoda's cousin recording of an authentic denial by Kamilia of detention. Later it was admited to be a forgery and a blatant video of a double slightly resembling Kamilia. The video which was mysteriously released on youtube without a presenter or being on a channel or having a church representive presented a girl who nervously denied even previously released church reports of "brain-washing" Kamilia further incriminating the pope by those closest to him. The next day another massive rally rocked Amr mosque on the first day of "Eid Al-Fitr" or Holiday of Breaking the Fast which celebrates the end of the holy month of Ramadan coinciding with September 10, 2010. The protesters exposed the fabrication and in a direct escalation after the forged video called for a million strong march to surround pope shenoda's fortified cathedral in abbasia and release their captive sisters.
