Duncan Denholm

Archibald Duncan Denholm (1892 - 1968) was one of Australia's earliest professional golfers. He was born in North Berwick, Scotland. Denholm started his golfing career at Berwick Golf Club before emigrating with his brother Alex to Canada, and later to the United States, where he became a scratch medalist at the Bass Rock Golf Club, Massachusetts. Denholm emigrated to Sydney, Australia, in 1922 and was appointed Assistant Professional at The Australian Golf Club in 1924. One year later he became the first professional at the new Balgowlah Golf Club. In 1930 he moved to the Mosman Golf Club which was closed in 1938 after the Australian Army claimed the area of Middle Head during World War II. Denholm died in 1968. |
