DSM is a band in Fullerton, California. The lead singer and guitarist is Dave Spier, the bass is Dan Thompson, the guitarist is Jeff Dennis, and the drummer is Jordan Rowan. DSM (Do Something Meaningful) got it's start in the early 2000's as Dave started playing for worship conferences, and hired musicians to play with him. After a few gigs, Jeff, Jordan, and Dan rose to the top, and DSM was born. Playing all throughout the western US, DSM continued to lead worship for thousands of students as they furthered their own identity. In early 2006, DSM followed an opportunity to try out for a company called CMP (Christian Music Presenters). This opportunity proved to be the single door that opened them to the Nashville scene. Since then the boys have been to nashville many times, and have found endless opportunities.
DSM won an opportunity to be on the Winter Jam Tour, and opened for the largest christian tour in the nation. Between two nights in Wichita, Kansas and Colorado Springs, Colorado, DSM played in front of 12,000-15,000 people.
Knowing that this opportunity would be the biggest in their career, DSM decided to go to nashville prior to the tour and record their first full length album. They found famed producer Barry Blair, and decided that he was the guy to capture their rock sound that had set them apart for years. So, off they went to Nashville and spent three weeks working hard to birth the songs that they had written. There were even two songs that weren't finished, that DSM finished while in Nashville. They proved to be two of the best, 'Dry' and 'Logical Suicide'. And so '...In the Midst of Chaos' was born.
This is the welcome found on the inside cover to explain the title of the CD. "...In the Midst of Chaos is about life. There are so many things that are around us to distract us. It is chaos. We hope that this CD will take you on an adventure, so when you walk through the chaos you have hope. Hope in the one who can show you the way to true life. He is there. We must stop and listen. Think. Worship. Love. This is the way. The way to live in the midst of chaos."
