Dreamseller is a memoir by Brandon Novak and Joe Frantz, Novak's biographer and collaborative coauthor. The book was released in October 2008. This "cautionary tale" chronicles Novak's career as a young amateur skateboarder, descent into heroin addiction, and subsequent rise to MTV fame. The book is to be released as a motion picture, directed by Bam Margera. Background Brandon Novak grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He started skating at 6 years old. He became friends with two famous skaters today, Bucky Lasek and Bam Margera. While living at Bam Margera's house, Bam's mother, April suggested that Novak should write a book. To perpetuate the project, Bam and Novak recruited friend and film maker Joe Frantz to help compile Novak's experiences into one cohesive memoir calculated to deliver a positive message, and inspire others not to ruin their lives as Novak had ruined his own. Novak spent the next six months living at Bam's house rent-free during the development of the book. Summary Novak's book opens on his last day as a heroin addict. Novak is 25 years old and homeless. He wakes up in a garage after a night of heavy drug use. After allowing a married man to perform fellatio on him, Novak decides to go to rehab the next day. Novak and his good friend check himself into a detox clinic. Following that, his story occasionally recounts happier youth, when he was touring the world as part of the famous Powell Peralta team, skating with the likes of Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek and Mike Vallely. While still on the team, Novak began working for a powerful drug dealer as a courier. He would deliver drugs and money while on skate shows. Film adaptation Dreamseller will be released as a motion picture with a budget of $5 million. The film was written and will be directed by Bam Margera, who will also play Brandon Novak.
