Starting as just a consultant at Manipal Hospital, Dr Shabber Zaveri's vision,dream and initiative transformed into reality when department of surgical oncology at Manipal Hospital was established in 2002. Manipal Hospital is a 650-bed specialty tertiary care hospital in Bangalore Having coordinated between the various subspecialties; which now has out grown into a full-fledged cancer center “Manipal Comprehensive Cancer Center”. Now Dr. Zaveri is the Head of the Department of Surgical Oncology at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore. His responsibilities included conducting out-patient clinics, counseling, conducting wide range of oncologic surgeries, palliative management of advanced cancers, organizing cancer detection camps, teaching post-graduate students and conducting clinical trials in collaboration, with medical and radiation oncologists. As a specialist registrar in surgical oncology at Bangalore Institute of Oncology, he was exposed to the various toughest aspects of surgical oncology, which included conducting complex surgeries with utmost care.
