Summary DownSide Out is an eclectic rock band hailing from Findlay, Ohio, USA. The band members include Kevin Moloney-Lead Vocalist, Dakota Artman-Lead Guitarist, John Trice-Rhythm/Acoustic/Bass Guitars/Keyboards and Jay Cousin-Drums/Percussion. The band was formed on St. Patricks Day 2007 and perform original songs as well as popular cover songs from the 70's 80's 90's and current day. They have a contagious alternative rock sound and perform everything from slow temporal ballads to hard and heavy rock pieces. This band is well received by those who have heard them play and their fan base keeps growing every day. The most interesting thing about the band is the age range of its members; from age 16 (Artman) to 46 (Trice). This age variance has enticed and enabled the band to produce a wide mix of sounds, as varied genres of music have been introduced by its ensuing members and ultimately, the band's evolution of sound has reflected as much. Young lead guitarist, Dakota Artman was given the nickname "Prodigy" by the band's elders due to his unusual talent level for his age. Artman plays difficult riffs and licks with ease that take most inspiring guitarists a century or more to learn and perfect. On a daily basis, Artman can be seen carrying his 6-string on his back, as he never wants to miss an opportunity to play his guitar, whether its on stage with his band members or during a stroll in the park on a warm summer day. Another highlight of the band is their freakishly talented drummer and monstrous purple Pearl double bass drum set with vibrant purple Harpy cymbals, appropriately named "The Purple Monster". The massive drumset includes 12 drums and 13 cymbals, all of which are used by the band's elite drummer, Jay Cousin. Jay tames "The Purple Monster" by playing with the finesse of a mistro and the precision of a freshly calibrated metronome. During the 80's, Cousin was the drummer for Original Rock Band "First Glance" opening for larger acts such as Bob Seger, 38 Special, Michael Stanley Band, The Romantics and Head East. Founding member and front man Kevin Moloney is the band's lead vocalist who sings with much passion and meaning. At 41, Moloney still has the voice of a 25 year old with something to prove. His alternative vocal style plays well into the band's overall sound and his stage presence seems to get the crowd in the mood to always want more. Finally, multi-talented guitarist, keyboardist John Trice pulls it all together with his superb musicianship and direction. Trice plays rhythm, acoustic and bass guitars as well as keyboards/synthesizers. And he does them all extremely well. Its unusual today to find such a musician with so much diversity and musical skills as John Trice.
With the talent and showmanship that DownSide Out wields, they are certain to continue being a big hit amongst baby boomers and college crowds everywhere they play. ---- You can learn more about the band by visiting their official website at DownSideOut.comor their myspace page at myspace.com/DownSideOutBand
