'Donkey the First' is the first book of the 'Three Crowns Saga' by English author David Peter Heyman. Published 01/07/2008 by Esteemworld Publications. Set in a city known only for the building at its centre, a donkey accidentally kills the current Emperor. Because of their laws it in turn becomes the new Emperor and its handler, a man called Carson, sees this as the perfect opportunity to change his life. The story spirals into sub-plots of assassinations and counter attacks as Carson desperately tries to keep his donkey alive long enough to actually be of some use to the people of the Empire. A dark comedy fantasy story, aimed at young adults and older. |
