Dominic Patten

Dominic Patten (born 1969 ) is a Canadian journalist, television host and author. He has lived in England, Spain, all over Canada and the U.S.
Patten is the Pop Culture columnist for Examiner.com.
Patten has also written for The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, Salon.com, The Washington Times, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The Vancouver Sun, and The National Post.
On June 5, 2006, it was announced that Dominic Patten had been appointed the Arts&Life editor of the Vancouver Sun. While at the paper, Patten pioneered the paper's two free digital album giveaways with Nettwerk Records, see a YouTube promo here.
Dominic Patten left the Vancouver Sun in May 2008.
Well known for his punditry on E!, the Biography Channel, the BBC, and NPR, among others Patten was formerly the Culture Correspondent for the CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson in Canada. Patten was also the co-creator and host of 21© CTV's current affairs show which ran from 2001-2004. Among the stories covered were the Toronto SARS crisis, the 2002 World Cup, World Youth Day 2002, and a series on the decline of the Recording Industry. Previous to joining CTV, Patten was a documentary filmmaker, radio host and a producer and on-air correspondent for CBC TV's award-winning media series Undercurrents.
In 2003 he was nominated for a Gemini Award, the Canadian equivalent of the Emmys, for Best News Magazine Segment for "Out of Control" - a study of Parent Abuse.

In 2004 Patten became one of the founding board members for Business for Diplomatic Action, a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to public diplomacy
In 2008, Patten declared the "Great American novel ... dead" when interviewed for in a cover story on Grand Theft Auto IV in Albany, New York's Metroland.
He is also currently writing his first book 1972 - The First Year of the 21st Century for publication in 2009.
