Domain dialing is a new concept originated in Brazil for the phone number calling process allowing smartphone users to place a call by dialing a website, or “domain name”, rather than dialing a phone number.
The first web page to use domain dialing is Siter.com. The service works in 11 languages, and is robust in Brazil and growing in the United States and other countries. In the ICANN 41 conference— which tooked place in June 2011—and in which hundreds of technology officers, business leaders and Internet experts traveled to Singapore to review progress and discuss things concerning the dialing domain, it was covered issues regarding domain names: "it also opened up Top-Level Domains (TLDs) beyond the traditional options for domain names such as .com or .netto include vanity options such as .ebay or generic terms such as .music." The move is expected to alleviate the risk of running out of IP addresses.<ref name="jyothi" />
