Real Irish Republican Army; (RIRA)
Information: The RIRA is the largest & most effective dissident paramilitary group, they have the largest weapons caches and have mounted gun, bomb & mortar attacks across the province as well as rocket & car bomb attacks in London & Birmingham. They have been operation since 1998 after the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
Operationally active: The paramilitary group is organised into county brigades, the most active brigades are the “Belfast Brigade” & the “South Armagh Brigade”, however they are active in nationalist areas across Ulster, mainly in west Belfast, south & north Armagh, Derry & County Tyrone.
Membership: 200 members, however less in active service units directing attacks. The group has thousands of synthesisers across Ulster & Ireland. They have a command structure similar to that of the British Army with the RIRA Army Council which consists of several directors; training, finances, operations, publicity and as well as a quartermaster general in charge arms caches.
Weapons: The Real IRA have a large number of assault rifles mainly AK-47s collected from the PIRA, the Real IRA also have a small number of Rocket-propelled grenades (RPG) and also with limited access to a number of surface to air missiles (SAM-7). The Real IRA attempted several rocket attacks near a British Army base in Pomeroy, County Tyrone using a SAM-7 in 2001. The Real IRA have a number of improvised mortar devices which they have used numerous attacks particularly in South Armagh. Its believed the Real IRA may have a DShK 12.7mm (0.50 cal) heavy machine gun which was stolen from a Provisional IRA arms cashe in 1994. The Russian heavy machine gun was donated to the PIRA by Lybia in the 1980s. The DShK was used to shoot down a British Army Lynx helicopter in 1990. The Real IRA also have a huge quantity of handguns and have access to around 1000.lbs of semtex plastic explosive. They have thousands of rounds of ammunition and have used improvised RPG`s, booby trap devices & pipe bombs on PSNI officers & British Royal Irish Regiment soldiers.

Continuity Army Council; Continuity IRA (CIRA)
Information: CIRA is made up of members who were previously members of other republican groups but who became disaffected with the peace process and the PIRA ceasefires in 1994, 1996 & 2005. The CIRA was established in 1986 however became operational in 1994.
Operationally active: Particularly active in border counties, mainly County Fermanagh / South Donegal area & the Derry / North Donegal areas. The CIRA also have units in Belfast and North Armagh.
Membership: Around 100, however less members in active units (ASU) involved in dissident operations.
Weapons: Few dozen assault rifles mainly AK-47s collected from PIRA arms caches after the ceasefires. CIRA also have a small arsenal of heavy machine guns, and handguns. The group also have access to semtex plastic explosive and the ability to manufacture there own home-made fertiliser explosives. They have also used a improvised rocket propelled grenade on a PSNI patrol in 2008, the CIRA have limited number of shotguns, which they have used in many gun attacks.

Óglaigh na hÉireann; (ONH)
Information: ONH is the smallest dissident organisation, however they probably the best bomb makers. The ONH have been blamed for many bomb attacks, mainly on security installations & PSNI officers across Northern Ireland. They have been blamed for making explosives devices and the passing them on to other larger dissident factions to carry out the attacks, ONH has tried uniting the dissidents under one name in a effort to make them more effective. The ONH was established in 2006 after a split from the Continuity IRA.
Operationally Active: Operational units in north & west Belfast as well as a unit in County Tyrone, its also thought the ONH have experienced bomb makers in South Armagh. The South Armagh and North Louth border was described as the "crucible" of dissident bomb making by the security forces in early 2010.
Membership: Few dozen, it is believed to have experienced Provisional IRA members within its ranks.
Weapons: Recently acquired 70 rifles in Belfast. They also have a small number of assault rifles, handguns aswell as other firearms. The Óglaigh na hÉireann have contructed viable improvised mortars which have been used in attacks most recently on the Strand Rd PSNI station during May 2010. The ONH are reported to have experienced explosive experts mainly ex Provisional IRA volunteers.

Republican Action Against Drugs; (RAAD)
Information: The RAAD is a dissident republican vigilante paramilitary organisation that has been responsible for many shootings & bomb attacks on drug dealers and other criminals across the County Londonderry & County Tyrone. Formed in 2009 after former PIRA members & other nationalist became disillusioned with the PSNI approach to drugs & criminal behaviour in republican areas of Derry. The RAAD have conducted many bomb attacks & paramilitary style shootings, inflicting horrific injuries on there victims.
Operationally Active: The group is mainly active in Derry city however they have active units in County Londonderry & North Donegal. They have also carried out attacks in County Tyrone.
Membership:Few Dozen, some from the ranks of the PIRA "Derry Brigade".
Weapons: Mainly handguns & improvised explosive devices however they have access to a limited number of rifles & automatic weapons.

*8 November: The Real IRA shot & injured a off-duty PSNI officer in Derry.
*11 November: The Real IRA claimed responsibly for a small bomb explosion near the cenotaph on poppy day in Newry, County Down. Nobody was injured in the blast.
*12 November: The Real IRA shot & injured a off-duty PSNI officer in Dungannon, County Tyrone.
*16 December: The Real IRA claimed responsibly for a pipe-bomb attack on Strabane PSNI station in County Tyrone.
2008
*14 February: The Óglaigh na hÉireann shot dead Andrew Burns a suspected member of the Real IRA in the Donegal village of Doneyloop. The man was kidnapped from his home in Strabane and driven over the border into Ireland where he was shot twice.
*12 May: A PSNI officer was seriously injured when a Real IRA booby-trap bomb explode under his car. The device detonated as he drove through the Spamount, Co. Tyrone.
*14 June: The CIRA “Fermanagh Command” claimed that it detonated a roadside bomb near a PSNI patrol-car in Rosslea, Co Fermanagh injuring two PSNI officers & damaging a patrol vehicle. The officers escaped with cuts and bruises, but suffered hearing difficulties because of the noise and force of the blast. The roadside bomb contained 150lb. homemade explosive however only the partially detonated.
*24 June: A man was shot dead in the Creggan area of Derry. The PSNI were criticised for their response and blamed it on the recent dissident activity, The PSNI had received a call stating that a “marksman was lying in wait”.
*16 August: The CIRA “Fermanagh Command” claimed that a CIRA unit fired a improvised rocket propelled grenade at a routine PSNI foot patrol in Lisnaskea, County Fermanagh which left three officers requiring treatment for minor injuries and shock. The rocket contained apparent decommissioned Semtex, however it failed to explode.
*25 August: CIRA orchestrated disturbances in Craigavon. At least one blast bomb, as well as petrol bombs were thrown at PSNI investigating a security alert. There where also six vehicles hijacked and set alight and several PSNI vehicles damaged during the riot.
*26 August: A CIRA member fired five shots at the PSNI during rioting in Craigavon. The PSNI saw a man in a crouching position aiming at them with a "long-barrelled weapon”. No one was injured in the gun attack.
*15 September: The Óglaigh na hÉireann is believed to have planted a 100lb. beer keg bomb in Jonesborough, South Armagh. A young boy touched the bomb after finding it in a hedge.
*25 September: The Real IRA where blamed for shooting a man in the neck on the County Londonderry / County Donegal border.
*8 October: Its Believed a CIRA left a roadside bomb near Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh. The bomb was found after a four-day security operation.
*5 November: The CIRA claimed responsibility for a blast-bomb attack on Lurgan PSNI station. The bomb caused limited damage and no injuries.
2009
*12 January: The CIRA claimed responsibly for a gun attack on a house in west Belfast.
*14 January: The CIRA claimed responsibly for a arson attack on a JCB digger in west Belfast. Its believed the contractor refused to pay protection money to the CIRA.
*31 January: The Óglaigh na hÉireann abandoned a 300lb. car bomb in Castlewellan, County Down. The vehicle borne IED was found five days after a warning was given. Its believed the device was abandoned by dissident republicans who were trying to target the Ballykinler British Army base.
*10 February: The Continuity IRA abandoned three viable pipe-bombs on Shiels Street, off the Falls Road in west Belfast.
*15 February: The Irish National Liberation Army “Derry Brigade” shot dead a drug dealer in Derry. The drug dealer is believed to have been using the INLA name for criminal activities.
*7 March: The Real IRA “South Antrim Brigade” shot dead two British soldiers in Antrim, County Antrim. Two other soldiers and two civilians were also seriously injured. The gunmen ambushed the soldiers at the entrance to the base with automatic assault rifles firing more than 60 shots. The Real IRA members then approached the dying soldiers and shot them again at close range on the floor.
*9 March: A CIRA “North Armagh Battalion” sniper shot dead a PSNI officer in Craigavon, County Armagh. The PSNI arrived at the scene after responding to a 999 call, when the officers proceed to the house two shots were fired. One PSNI Officer was hit in the head. The PSNI where also attacked & petrol bombed during rioting when arrest where made in the following days. They also came under sporadic attacks by youths in the following weeks after the shooting.
*2 April: The Real IRA “Derry Brigade” claimed responsibility for shooting a man twice during a punishment attack on a convicted rapist who was awaiting sentencing for raping a 15 year old girl.
*16 April: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) claimed responsibility for a pipe bomb attack. The device exploded after it was thrown at a house in Derry.
*15 May: Components for a 100lb. bomb are found in a field near Rosslea, Co Fermanagh. Its believed the a CIRA Fermanagh unit where responsible for the device.
*17 May: A Continuity IRA member fired volley of shots over the grave of Vol. Jim Gallagher in Derry. Jim Gallagher was shot dead by the British Army in 1976.
*9 June: The Republican Action Against Drugs “Donegal Unit” exploded a pipe-bomb under a car in the Irish village of Manorcunningham.
*15 June: The CIRA claimed responsibility for a failed bomb attack against a PSNI base in Armagh. The bomb failed to detonate properly and was later defused by the Army.
*15 June: The Óglaigh na hÉireann claimed its volunteers had "breached security" at a PSNI station and planted a "semtex device” within the base. The PSNI discovered a device within the perimeter of the Stand Road Derry PSNI base two days later.
*13 July: The Real IRA was blamed for a gun attack on the PSNI during rioting after a Orange Order parade. The masked rioter fired a single shot at the PSNI in the Ardoyne area, two blast bombs where also thrown at PSNI. Twenty one PSNI officers were injured, as well as 18 baton rounds fired by the police during the rioting. A rifle was also removed by the PSNI after children where seen playing with it.
*13 July: A volunteer from the CIRA “North Armagh Battalion” was seen during rioting in Co. Armagh. The gunman was armed with a 7.62mm AK-47 assault rifle and was dressed in full paramilitary uniform & balaclava. During the rioting one device exploded and two cars where hijacked and set alight. There was also rioting in Rasharkin and Derry where petrol bombs were thrown at the PSNI.
*12 August: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) shot two men in separate gun attacks in Derry. One man was shot three times in the legs after five armed men entered his house, the other man was shot three times in the left leg.
*19 August: The Irish National Liberation Army “Derry Brigade” shot a man during a gun attack in Derry. It is believed the man was involved in drug dealing.
*28 August: The Real IRA “South Armagh Brigade” staged a vehicle checkpoint in Meigh, South Armagh. The active service unit is reported to have at least seven gunmen armed with assault rifles, heavy machine-gun & a RPG launcher, the gunmen were handing out leaflets stating that the public should not cooperate with the PSNI or the Garda. A PSNI unmarked patrol vehicle spotted the gunmen as one of them waved for the PSNI to come forward towards VCP, the officer radioed his colleagues what he had seen, turned away and drove out of the area. The PSNI vehicles met up a short distance away and returned to their base. The PSNI withdrew because they believed there presence would have resulted in a gun battle.
*8 September: The Óglaigh na hÉireann are believed to have planted a 600lb. roadside bomb near Forkill, South Armagh. It is believed that the target was a passing PSNI patrol however its thought the volunteers were spooked and abandoned the bomb after seeing the PSNI helicopter which was been used in separate incident. The bomb was designed to be detonated by a command wire which was laid across the border.
*11 September: The RIRA “Derry Brigade” claimed it was responsible for double pipe-bomb attack on the homes of family members of a PSNI officer in Derry. One of the devices exploded destroying a car. The RIRA also claimed responsibly for shooting a man three times in the legs & hand, on the same day in Derry.
*17 September: Riots erupted in Lurgan, Co Armagh after three members of the CIRA are sentenced to 15 years each for an attempted mortar attack on a PSNI or British Army patrol. During the riots five vehicles were hijacked and left burning on a railway track and an articulated lorry was set on fire near the Tullygally estate, and there were also reports of armed masked men being seen in parts of the town.
*17 September: A pipe bomb is found near the home of one of Northern Irelands highest profiles judges. Two controlled explosions were carried out on the device, found on Waterloo Park, off the Antrim Road. The bomb was found on the same day the judge sentenced three men from the CIRA to 15 years for a failed mortar attack.
*7 October: The Republican Action Against Drugs shot a man in Derry. The man was dragged from his house by the armed gang to Meehan Square in the Bogside where he was shot. When the PSNI arrived at the scene they where attacked by youths throwing missiles, one of the missiles hit a officer and knocked him unconscious.
*8 October: Three masked Real IRA members fired a volley of shots over the coffin of the RIRA member John Brady in Strabane, Co. Tyrone. The gunmen get cheers and were applauded by hundreds of mourners.
*16 October: The Óglaigh na hÉireann (ONH) where blamed for a booby trap bomb which exploded under the passenger seat of a PSNI officer car in east Belfast. The bomb injured the girlfriend of the officer whom was driving the car. The bomb contained semtex and was detonated by a mercury-tilt switch which was constructed by a disaffected former Provisional IRA member.
*20 October: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) shot a teenager in both legs. The RAAD stated that the teenager was heavily involved in anti-social behaviour.
*22 October: The RIRA “Belfast Brigade” claimed responsibility for a pipe bomb attack on a British Army TA base in North Belfast which cause significant damage to the perimeter fence. There were no injuries however the Army's bomb disposal unit stated the bomb was designed to kill.
*3 November: The Republican Action Against Drugs shot a man five times in the legs in Derry.
*19 November: A viable horizontal mortar type device was left by the side of the Friary Road in Armagh. The improvised mortar was discovered after a warning from a member of the public was given. The device was designed to kill PSNI officers passing in a vehicle. The mortar was ready to be detonated by command wire some distance away.
*20 November: The CIRA claimed responsibility for shooting a man three times in the leg during a punishment attack in west Belfast.
*22 November:The Óglaigh na hÉireann are believed to have remote detonated a 400lb car bomb in Belfast. The car bomb was crashed thought the barriers and abandoned outside Policing Board HQ, however the bomb only partially detonated, and no one was hurt.
*22 November: Dissidents republicans tried to ambush a off duty policeman in the border area of County Fermanagh however they are intercepted by the British Army’s Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR) & covert PSNI officers. There is an exchange of gunfire after which three people are arrested. Its believed the PSNI where tipped off by intelligence collected by the Garda in the Irish Republic.
*3 December: A viable pipe bomb was thrown at Strabane PSNI Station, County Tyrone. The device was discovered on a patch of waste ground close to the station.
*6 December: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) claimed responsibility for series of co-ordinated bomb attacks. The RAAD planted five devices, which targeted four cars and a house in the Creggan area of Derry however two of the devices failed to explode. As the PSNI & Army responded to the attacks they where attacked by forty youths throwing petrol bombs and other missiles.
*11 December: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) claimed responsibility for abducting & shooting of two men in Derry.
*23 December: The Continuity IRA shot a man in both legs. The man shot in west Belfast after been driven around the area. He was convicted for his involvement of a murder of a west Belfast greengrocer in Sept 2007. The man was released from prison in September 2009 after serving two years of a four year sentence.
*31 December: A abandoned van containing 1000 lb. of explosive packed in to barrels and drums is found under a bridge on the Belfast to Dublin motorway in South Armagh. The van had been there for several days, the PSNI believed it was been transported from the Republic to the north for a Christmas & New Year shopping bomb attack. The van was believed to be abandoned after the volunteers saw a passing PSNI patrol. Its thought the bomb was missing vital parts and was not yet fully constructed.
*31 December: The Real IRA “South Armagh Brigade” claimed responsibility for a gun attack on Crossmaglen PSNI station in South Armagh. A volunteer pulled up in a car outside the PSNI station, exited the vehicle and fired several shots at the station fortified base.
2010
*8 January: The Óglaigh na hÉireann planted a bomb under the car of a PSNI officer seriously injuring him. As a result of the explosion the PSNI officer lost a leg and suffered horrendous lower body injuries. The bomb contained 1 lb. of semtex and is believed to have been remote detonated. Security sources stated that a unit based in west Belfast had been gathering intelligence on the officer weeks before the attack.
*24 January: The Real IRA “South Armagh Brigade” claimed responsibility for a gun attack on Crossmaglen PSNI station in South Armagh. The Real IRA members pulled up in a car and fired several shots at the station. It was the second gun attack on the base in three weeks.
*25 January: The Real IRA shot dead Gerard Staunton a convicted drug dealer in Cork City, Republic of Ireland. He was shot dead in front of his wife and children sitting in his car.
*27 January: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) shot a shopkeeper three times in Derry. It is believed to be in relation to the sales of legal highs at the shop.
*31 January: The Real IRA “South Armagh Brigade” claimed responsibility for a gun attack on a PSNI station in Bessbrook, South Armagh. The Real IRA members pulled up in a car at the station's gates and fired thirty “high velocity” shots using a automatic assault rifles. It was the third gun attack on PSNI bases in a month.
*3 February: The Real IRA “Belfast Brigade” threw a pipe-bomb at Oldpark PSNI station in North Belfast. The device exploded causing damage to a perimeter fence.
*18 February: The Real IRA “Tyrone Brigade” claimed responsibility for a pipe bomb attack on a house in Co Tyrone. It is believed the house was targeted because of criminal activity, the house belonged to members of the travelling community.
*19 February: A viable improvised mortar bomb is found in a abandoned in a van near a PSNI station in Keady, County Armagh. The security alert began several hours after the suspicious vehicle was abandoned at a angle in the middle of the road. The PSNI said the device "had the potential to cause death or serious injury”. The same station in Keady was attacked by the CIRA in 2006 after several shots where fired at the base.
*22 February: The Real IRA where blamed for a 250lb. car bomb which exploded in Newry, County Down. The car bomb was reversed into the fortified courthouse at around 22:00pm. The Real IRA gave a inaccurate telephoned warning to a local hospital, stating the bomb would explode in 30 minutes, however as the PSNI where evacuating the area the device exploded causing significant damage however no injuries.
*23 February: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) claimed to have shot a man in both legs in Derry. The man was alleged to be involved in illegal activities.
*24 February: The Real IRA shot dead a man on the border near Derry. The man was found stripped and bound and had been shot in the head. A RIRA statement said it had killed Kieran Doherty, a former republican prisoner & member of the of the dissident republican Real IRA for drug dealing. Its believed MI5 had approached Doherty several times to become a informer.
*27 February: Dissidents are believed to have fired a improvised mortar type device at Craigavon PSNI station in Co. Armagh. The device missed the base and caused no injuries. The same PSNI station was targeted by the Real IRA using another mortar bomb in Dec 06.
*19 March: The Real IRA claimed they left four explosive devices in Derry city centre. The RIRA abandoned a hijacked lorry outside the Strand Road PSNI station and a van outside the Bishop Street Courthouse. After three controlled explosions the British Army cleared all the devices. There where also a number of security alerts in Belfast & Ballymena which caused widespread traffic disruption.
*20 March: The RIRA where blamed for a gun attack on the PSNI & British Army investigating a suspect device on a railway line near Newry in Co Down. There where no injuries. After a four day security operation the device was cleared as a “elaborate hoax”. In a separate incident, British Army bomb experts also carried out a controlled explosion on a bomb in Magherafelt, County Londonderry.
*28 March: The Republican Action Against Drugs claimed responsibility for two pipe bombs attacks in Derry. One exploded in a van setting fire to the vehicle.
*28 March: Four masked men claiming to be members of the Real IRA hijacked a white van in Derry, the van was later abandoned just over the border in the Irish Republic.
*28 March: The RAAD “Donegal unit” claimed responsibly for leaving improvised explosive device outside a “head shop” in Letterkenny, Rep. Ireland. The shop sells legal highs which mimic the effects of drugs. The device was defused after a five hour security operation by the Irish Army, The shop closed down some days later.
*30 March: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) claimed responsibly for a gun attack on a house in Dungiven, County Londonderry.
*3 April: The Continuity IRA claimed responsibly for abandoning a car bomb outside Crossmaglen PSNI station in South Armagh. The device contained a number gas cylinders & containers filled with a flammable liquid.
*12 April: The Real IRA claimed responsibility for a 120lb. car bomb attack on the MI5 H.Q. at Palace Barracks in Holywood, County Down. The bomb was placed in a hijacked taxi, the drivers family was held hostage as he drove the car bomb to the Army base where he raised the alarm. The bomb detonated damaging the entrance to the base.
*13 April: The Continuity IRA claimed responsibly for abandoning a car bomb outside a fortified PSNI station in Newtownhamilton, South Armagh. The bomb was defused by the British Army.
*13 April: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) claimed responsibly for shooting a man in the leg during a paramilitary style attack in the Bogside area of Derry.
*14 April: A PSNI officer’s personal car was destroyed in a arson attack in County Fermanagh.
*16 April: Security sources & politicians reviled that in February 2010 two female PSNI officers conducted a surveillance operation against the Óglaigh na hÉireann in the Andersonstown area of west Belfast during which a ONH gunman approached the officers and attempted to fire into their car, the gun jammed and one of the female PSNI officers quickly put the car into reverse, then drove off at high speed.
*19 April: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) claimed responsibly for two pipe-bomb attacks on houses in Derry. One of the pipe bombs cause “extensive damage” to a car and also damaged the front of a house, the other only partially detonated.
*19 April: The Republican Action Against Drugs “Tyrone Unit” claimed responsibility for shooting a 24-year-old man in both legs at a house in Strabane, County Tyrone.
*20 April: The Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) claimed responsibility for a pipe bomb attack outside a house on Dunmore Gardens, Derry.
*22 April: Dissident republicans detonated a car bomb outside Newtownhamilton PSNI station in South Armagh. The PSNI station & nearby properties suffered substantial damaged in the attack. They also raked the fortified base with gunfire whilst abandoning the vehicle borne IED outside the station.
*22 April: The Real IRA “Tyrone Brigade” claimed responsibility for a pipe bomb attack on a house use by drug dealers in Coalisland, County Tyrone.
*3 May: A PSNI officer’s family home was targeted in a pipe bomb attack in Newry, Co. Down.
*4 May: Dissident republicans where blamed for a bomb attack on Lurgan PSNI station in Co. Armagh. The pipe bomb type device was thrown at the gates of the base.
*6 May: The Óglaigh na hÉireann claimed responsibly for placing a viable pipe bomb in a hijacked taxi. The taxi was later abandoned outside a election counting centre in Derry on the night of the 2010 United Kingdom general election.
*10 May: The Óglaigh na hÉireann claimed that a bomb found after a security alert in Derry was abandoned five days before. The PSNI said the device was hidden in the ceiling of the toilets at a counting office for the 6th May 2010 general election. The PSNI also stated the device was missing a detonator & could not explode.
*14 May: Dissidents were blamed for a gun attack on a house in Newry, Co. Down. Its believed the target was a drug dealer on a dissident threat list. The two gunmen fired eight shots into the house. Its believed the RAAD shot a relative of the man several days later, in Newry.
*17 May: The Continuity IRA where blamed for orchestrating rioting. Two blast bombs & several petrol bombs where thrown at the heavily armed PSNI officers in Lurgan, Co. Armagh. Six PSNI officers suffered minor injuries & ringing of the ears.
*20 May: Dissident republicans where blamed for a gun attack on a house which belonged to a retired Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR) soldier in Markethill, County Armagh.
*21 May: The Republican Action Against Drugs are believed to have shot a man in the leg in Newry, Co. Down.
*22 May: The Republican Action Against Drugs were blamed for shooting a man in Strabane, Co. Tyrone. He was shot in both legs and the elbow. He had recently returned from England after being threatened for dealing cocaine. On the 3rd June the man's then-vacant house was destroyed by a fire.
*27 May: The Republican Action Against Drugs claimed responsibility for a pipe-bomb attack on a house in Strabane, Co. Tyrone. The group said it was a warning to the owner to cease drug dealing.
*28 May: The Republican Action Against Drugs claimed responsibility for planting a pipe bomb inside a pub in the Brandywell area of Derry. The device however failed to explode.
*29 May: The Óglaigh na hÉireann claimed responsibly mortar attack on the Strand Rd PSNI station in Derry. A explosive device was fired from the rear of a car from a nearby street. The device struck a fortified wall of the PSNI base however did not explode. It is understood the device partially exploded inside the car which was set alight.
*31 May: The Continuity IRA where blamed for shooting a man in the leg during a paramilitary punishment attack on the outskirts of west Belfast.
*3 June: The Republican Action Against Drugs claimed responsibility for a pipe-bomb attack on a car in Strabane, Co. Tyrone.
*3 June: The Republican Action Against Drugs claimed responsibility for a pipe-bomb attack on a car in Derry.
*8 June: The Republican Action Against Drugs claimed responsibility for a pipe-bomb attack on a house in Derry. The Republican Action Against Drugs stated that the owner of the house was a “career criminal” selling heroin.
*8 June: The Republican Action Against Drugs claimed its volunteers fired 80 shots into the air using fully automatic weapons during a “show of strength” exercise in Derry. The RAAD claimed its members had been searching youths causing “mayhem” in the Creggan area.
*10 June: The Irish National Liberation Army where blamed for a murder attempt in N. Belfast. A man was shot in the upper body after three masked men entered his house, its believed the man was in a disagreement with a leading member of the INLA.
*17 June: Dissident republicans where blamed for abandoning a 300lb. bomb contained in a ford transit van outside Aughnacloy PSNI station in County Tyrone. The British Army defused the viable vehicle borne IED after a controlled explosion was carried out.
*17 June: Dissidents republicans through a viable pipe-bomb at Craigavon PSNI station in Co. Armagh. The device failed to explode and was later defuse by the British Army.
