DiskAid is a desktop software application for both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows developed by DigiDNA and released in June 2008. The application consists of a browser window showing the contents of the iOS device to which the host computer is connected using the original 30-pin/USB connector. Early Versions The first release was capable of browsing the entire device if it had been jailbroken. Otherwise, file transfer capacity was reserved to the media folder of the iPhone, allowing the ability to copy music or pictures. Developments The application has evolved considerably with the appearance of iOS file sharing in iOS 3.2, as it became capable of accessing any installed app on the device. DiskAid has since added numerous features like the ability to copy iPhone data such as SMS text messages, contacts, voice mail, notes, and voice memos to the computer. The latest version DiskAid (5) adds media library transfer to iTunes or a folder. iOS file transfer features are now totally free. Mac OS X Version 6 As of December 2012 DiskAid 6 for Mac has introduced Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing to transfer files via a wireless network.
