Dimitrios Kavadas

Fr. Demetrios Kavadas (Greek):Δημητριος Καββαδας was born on the Island of Chios, Greece, May 3, 1932. He died on February 26, 2007.
* Came to the United States March 1, 1950, and naturalized in 1960.
Personal life
He was a Member of a minor Phanariot clan of Greece. He was the son of Stefanos and Vasilia. Stefanos was a high school principal, director of one of the largest libraries of Greece, author of over 100 books and recipient of the Medal of Phoenix by the King of Greece. His paternal great-grandfather was one of many priests and Archpriests who carried the surname Kavadas in the Phanar District of Constantinople. He had one brother.
He married to Rodothea A. Palaiologos of Boston, Massachusettes. They had six children: Iphigenia, Stephen, John, Basil, Stephen, and Basil.
The city of Chios named a street after Stefanos Kavadas in September 2001.
Education
He obtained a Bachelor of Art in Theology at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Theological Seminary.
