Dhruba Joetirmoya Gope (born September 1989) is a decorated Bangladeshi police officer In 2020, Dhruba received Bangladesh Police Medal -Service (bpm-seba), which is one of the highest honors of Bangladesh Police He joined Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on June 1, 2016 and is currently working as an Assistant Commissioner at Cyber Security & Crime Division of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Family Dhruba was born on September 6, 1989. Both his parents were reputed high school teachers. He is the youngest of three siblings. His two elder sisters are University Professors working at leading institutes. Education Dhruba completed his BS & MS in Applied Physics, Electronics & Communication Engineering from University of Dhaka in 2011 & 2012 respectively Later, he completed his MBA from University of Dhaka’s Institute of Business Administration, the leading business school in the country. Earlier he completed his schooling from prestigious and Dhaka College. Career Dhruba joined Bangladesh Police after successfully passing the BCS Examination, which is the most prestigious and most competitive job examination in Bangladesh. He is a cadre from the 34th BCS. After completing his training, he joined the department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police as an Assistant Commissioner. Currently, he is at the Cyber Security & Crime Division of CTTC. Critical Cases He solved several high-profile cyber crimes and currently supervising some crucial cases. Some noteworthy cases are- Detection and arrest of the hacker of more than two hundred Facebook IDs, Detection and arrest of the hacker of popular website Bisoy.com, Identification and arrest for publishing secret videos of women colleagues of Arrong, publishing personal photos of artist Mithila , Detection and arrest for Defaming the Father of the Nation, Detection and arrest of Bank Fraudsters, Detection and arrest of foreign criminals for counterfeiting currency, Detection and arrest of ATM Card Fraudsters, Detection and arrest of the head of the media division of the banned terrorist organization Neo JMB, etc. Awards For his outstanding service in the police in the year 2019, Dhruba received Bangladesh Police Medal-Service (bpm-seba) in the police week 2020 from the honorable Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh Police Medal-Service (bpm-seba) is one of the highest honors of Bangladesh police and only a handful of officers receive this award for solving extra ordinary cases, discipline and dedication.
