Dexter Norville is a Barbadian flautist.
He began his music education under Anderson Williams, Deputy Director of Music of the Royal Barbados Police Force [RBPF]. Five years later, he then studied with Hal Archer [a concert flautist that studied under William Bennett]. Dexter then received a National Development scholarship and attended the University of Surrey. There, he trained with Anna Noakes and Ian Clarke. He also attended master classes given by William Bennett. 1998, Dexter was made an Associate member of the Trinity College of Music, to be appointed a Licentiate member two years later. In 2000, he won the 'Young Musician of the Year' award in Guilford, England, and in 2001, he won the 'Bell and Colvill' scholarship. Next, he won the 'Croser-Hughes' solo recital competition. Norville has performed in London, Germany, USA, Guyana and Barbados. Presently, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Music with honors from the University of Surrey.
