Desi Dogs are Indian-origin variants on hotdogs. Desi Dogs are hearty, flavourful, Indianised, and on occasion, spicy. The unifying approach is to create a ‘Desi’ (a colloquialism meaning ‘indigenous’) product - flavoured with house sauces, relishes, toppings - to appeal to an Indian palate. Overview Desi Dogs started with 3 classics - vegetarian, chicken and pork hot dogs named Amar, Akbar and Anthony, referencing the eponymous 1977 Bollywood blockbuster buddy movie. A large section of the Indian population is vegetarian - hence vegetarian versions (in place of the meat sausage) of almost all Desi Dogs are also available. Mumbai, India Desi Dogs are now available in 9 variants, and are a product of a Deli in Mumbai, India.
