Derrick Van Orden

Derrick F. Van Orden (born September 15, 1969) is an American author, actor, and retired United States Navy SEAL.
As a film consultant, he is best known for his role as "Chief" in the 2012 American war movie Act of Valor. His military career included 5 combat deployments and service across multiple SEAL teams. He holds an undergraduate degree from Excelsior College and is a Jurist Doctorate student at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
After leaving the military, Van Orden co-authored 2015's Book of Man, A Navy SEAL's Guide to the Lost Art of Manhood. He has been a guest on Fox News and Blaze Media to promote his writings and discuss special forces culture and training.
Van Orden is a 2020 Republican candidate in the primary for Wisconsin's 3rd congressional district.
Personal life
Van Orden currently lives on a small hobby farm with his wife Sara. They previously operated a cafe in Butternut, Wisconsin which specialized in locally sourced foods.
