Derby Royals Football Club

Derby Royals Football Club is an amateur football club located in the city of Derby and play their home games in Mickleover on a pitch adjacent to Mickleover Sports Ground, Station Road, Mickleover, DE3 9FE. The club plays in the Premier Division in the Midlands Regional Alliance football league (MRA), which is at level 13 of the English Football League System and a feeder to the Central Midlands League. History: The club was initially created as a Junior side which was very successful at each level it played at, including a European tournament in the Netherlands which the side won. The mens side was created in 2008 by Robin Pritchard, the Chairman of the previous junior side also. The club initially entered into the East Midlands Senior League Division One in it's first season, going onto win the League title with only one defeat, as well as completing the treble by winning both league based cups. After the success of the initial season it was decided the club would apply for a position within the Midlands Regional Alliance, which contains three leagues at the 13th, 14th and 15th level of the English Football League System respectively. This is the highest Derbyshire based league available at Amatuer level before the Leagues are then a combination cities within the Midlands. The Royals' first season in Division 2 saw them win the league gaining promotion to Division One. Their second season in the MRA saw the Royals finish as Runners Up to Mickleover R.B.L and gain promotion to the Premier Divison, whilst also winning a league cup; becoming the eventual runners up by way of a penalty shoot-out to Allenton United in the F.A Derbyshire Junior Cup and losing out in a semi-final of another league based cup. The coming season 2011/12 sees Derby Royals compete at their highest level yet in the Midlands Regional Alliance Premier Divison where progress can be followed on either their own site at www.DerbyRoyals.co.uk or the MRA website at MRA.
