Woolley Moor United Football Club are a football club based in Woolley Moor, Derbyshire, England. For the 2012/13 season, the club currently compete in the Midlands Regional Alliance Division One. Home Ground History From the early 1900’s Woolley’s first home ground was Amber Valley Camp, which housed a variety of sports including cricket, hockey and football. This was Woolley’s residence until 1958 when the creation of Ogston Reservoir submerged the surrounding area thus forcing the clubs to relocate up onto the moors. The Jubilee Playing Fields became Woolley’s home right up until the 2012/13 season. The beginning of this season marked the club’s move to Mill Lane, Clay Cross. The decision to move was sparked when Woolley Moor narrowly missed out on promotion the previous season. Had they had succeeded the ground as it was would not have been sufficient for a higher level of play. The league association advised Woolley that in order to progress they would need to upgrade their facilities. With their desire to push on through the English football league system Woolley made the first steps to move on from their much loved but tired and out dated home. Soon enough the club were given the fantastic opportunity to ground share with Central Midlands Football League neighbours Clay Cross Town FC. The swift decision was made to accept the offer and the team moved to the splendid facilities of Mill Lane.
